Test order in the free plugin
How to place one clearly marked test order through your real checkout, what the test checks, and what it leaves in your store.
On this page
Open Commerce Health → Test order. It places one clearly marked order through your real checkout, only when an administrator presses Run test order. Nothing on this screen runs by itself.
The order is placed with a hidden test payment method. It is cancelled at once, no payment is taken and no payment provider is contacted.
What you need
- WooCommerce active, and an administrator account. Other roles, including Shop manager, do not see the screen.
- Guest checkout turned on in WooCommerce settings, because the test order is placed as a guest.
- A site that can make a request to itself. Some hosts and firewalls block this; the test then says it could not run.
Run a test order
- Create a test product. Press Create a test product for me. It makes one private, hidden, virtual product priced at 1.00. You cannot pick an existing product, so your real products are never touched. Visitors cannot see or buy it.
- Run the test. The first time, tick the three boxes confirming you have read the notes, then press Run test order. It can take up to a minute, so keep the page open. Later runs do not ask again.
You can remove the test product at any time with Remove the test product.
What the test checks
- WooCommerce is active, the test product exists and guest checkout is allowed.
- No other test is running, and the site can make a request to itself.
- The test product can be added to the cart.
- The test payment method is available at checkout.
- The order is placed through the checkout. The result says whether your store uses the block or the classic checkout, and both are supported.
- The order was created and is marked as a test, with one item.
| Result | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Passed | Every step worked. |
| Failed | A step that checks your checkout did not work, for example the order could not be placed. The step and what was seen are shown. |
| Could not run | The test could not run because of how the site is set up, such as guest checkout being off. That is not a checkout failure. See A test order failed or could not run. |
What it leaves in your store
- A real order with the status Cancelled, billing name “Kodenzo Test Order”, a yellow Commerce Health test order box on the order screen, and order notes saying it is a test. It uses up one order number.
- It stays in WooCommerce → Orders until you press Delete all test orders. That removes only orders this tool created.
- While the test runs, emails from WordPress and WooCommerce are blocked and WooCommerce webhooks are held back. The result shows how many emails were blocked.
If Delete data when uninstalling is on in Settings, test orders, the test product and the plugin’s options are removed when you delete the plugin.
What it does not test
It does not test your real payment methods, shipping, tax or coupons, and other plugins can still react to a new order. See What test orders do to your store before you run one on a live shop.
With PRO
When PRO is active, this screen only links to PRO’s Test orders screen, where the test product, the fuller test, the schedule and the history all live. See PRO test orders and the schedule.
