History and the Checkout test

What the History screen shows, how the Run checkout test button works, and what a pass does and does not prove.

Open Commerce Health → PRO dashboard → History. It has three parts.

Checkout test

Click Run checkout test and PRO walks your cart and checkout from the server and shows each step:

  1. Cart page loads.
  2. A product can be added to the cart. PRO uses your newest simple, in-stock, priced product. If it finds none, this step and the next two are skipped.
  3. Cart page shows the cart.
  4. Checkout page loads with a checkout form.
  5. A payment method is available. It lists the methods WooCommerce reports as available.

Each step shows Passed, Failed or Skipped, with what was seen (for example “HTTP 200 in 412 ms”). The overall result is Failed if any step failed, Incomplete if none failed but some were skipped, and Passed otherwise. The last 10 runs are kept.

What the test never does

  • It never creates an order, so there are no emails, stock changes, integrations or sales reports to clean up.
  • It never contacts a payment provider or uses a card. The only thing it leaves behind is a guest cart that WooCommerce clears by itself.

What a pass does not prove

  • It reads the pages the server returns, so it cannot find JavaScript errors, styling problems or a payment button that fails in a browser.
  • It cannot show that a payment method works with a real card.
  • With the block cart, the cart items are drawn by JavaScript, so the test confirms the cart block is on the page but not the items in it.
  • A firewall or caching rule can make a working checkout look broken, or the other way round.

A pass means the pages work for the server. It does not mean every customer can pay. Keep placing a real test order, on staging or with a payment method’s test mode, before big sales.
