Issue email alerts

When PRO emails you, which severities it emails about, what the subject says, and how to change it.

What PRO emails you about

PRO emails your alert recipients (the site admin address by default; change it under Commerce Health → Settings → Alert recipients) when an issue is:

  • New: found for the first time.
  • Reopened: it had been resolved and came back.
  • More severe: an open issue whose severity went up (for example Medium to High).

An issue that stays at the same severity does not email you again. The severity is in capitals in the subject, for example [Your Shop] [HIGH] Commerce Health: Stripe Payments Not Finishing.

Choose how much you hear

Open Commerce Health → PRO settings and use Issue Emails to choose the lowest severity PRO emails about. The change takes effect straight away.

Choice You are emailed about
Low and above Every issue (Low, Medium, High, Critical)
Medium and above Medium, High, Critical
High and above (default) High and Critical
Critical only Critical
Off No issue emails (the dashboard still shows everything)

Info-level findings are never emailed.

Some issues never reach every levelEach monitor has its own levels. Payment Gateway and JavaScript Error issues are Low, Medium or Critical (never High). Plugin Conflict is Medium or Critical. Stuck Payments and Core Web Vitals can be Medium, High or Critical. If you choose “Critical only”, you are emailed only when something reaches Critical.

How the emails behave

  • One email per batch. If a scan or a monitoring cycle finds several issues at once, they arrive in one email, most severe first, with the highest severity in the subject, for example “[Your Shop] [CRITICAL] Commerce Health: 3 issues need attention (1 critical, 1 high, 1 medium)”.
  • At most 10 issue emails a day. The tenth says it is the last for today. Anything else found that day appears on the Issues screen only.
  • Up to 10 issues are listed in one email, then “Plus N more”.
  • A flapping issue. If an issue keeps resolving and reopening, it is emailed as reopened at most once an hour. A rise in severity always gets through.
  • Only while the PRO license is active.

Examples

What happens Email (default setting)
3 orders pile up unfinished on one gateway (Medium) None. Medium is below High.
It reaches 5 unfinished (High) [HIGH] email.
It reaches 8 unfinished (Critical) [CRITICAL] email.
It stays at Critical for the next hour None. The severity didn’t change.
It clears, then comes back at High two hours later [HIGH] email (reopened).

With “Low and above”, the first row would also send a [MEDIUM] email.

Scan findings and the free plugin

  • The free plugin on its own emails a new or reopened critical finding from a scan, as a plain-text email. That is controlled by Commerce Health → Settings → Email me when a critical issue is found. With PRO active and licensed, that same email is sent in PRO’s design.
  • With PRO, new findings of other severities from scans (automatic or manual) are emailed according to the Issue Emails setting. A finding whose severity rises to Critical is emailed by PRO.
  • If the free plugin’s critical-issue setting is off, PRO sends the critical scan findings itself, because the Issue Emails setting says so.
  • The weekly summary email is separate and is not an alert.
  • On Settings, Send test email checks your site can send mail. On PRO settings, Preview PRO email design sends a sample, marked as a test, to the same alert recipients (To and CC) without creating an issue.
